Taipei City Hospital and its seven branches in the city have different areas of expertise, including critical care, chronic disease, mental illness and public health. During the Healthcare+ Expo, the hospital will showcase its strengths in smart healthcare, digital health technology and integrated care. Elderly care is a key focus area, with Taipei City Hospital providing therapeutic and care services for the elderly.

AI-assisted MRI Predicting Cardiovascular Disease Risk
Because of differences in genes, diet and lifestyle, the brain ages differently. Among these, ageing and lesions of the brain's white matter have been shown to be associated with cardiovascular disease and cognitive impairment.
This white matter-based assessment tool is designed to predict the risk of cardiovascular disease by using MRI images to perform regional white matter segmentation of the brain to extract structural features of abnormal high signals, and then using artificial intelligence to build a corresponding prediction model to estimate the individual's neurovascular age, which provides an objective bio-cardiovascular risk indicator to assess the individual's risk of cardiovascular disease.

Integrated Care for Seniors with Dementia
Taipei City Hospital has a dementia centre that provides services and care for seniors with dementia. Services include accompanying caregivers through different stages, providing information and referral advice, linking patients and their families with medical resources, raising health awareness about dementia, and creating a safe community environment for dementia.
Taipei City Hospital further integrates several digital services for the dementia cohort with care and support in a way that is based on user experience and medical expertise. These include
1. Administrative workflow: Appointments can be easily made online, with the Taipei City Hospital app and other apps (e.g. Taipei Pass) publicly available to Taiwanese citizens.
2. Medical care: Apps connected to the hospital digitise the patient's medication, examination reports, vital signs monitoring and lifestyle for both the patient and the hospital.
3. Quality of life: There is a website for community care and seniors with dementia that provides a wealth of information to improve quality of life.
4. Health promotion: A citizen's health plan provides information on health promotion and facilitates understanding of dementia.
5. Health awareness: The Dementia Friendly Resource Platform provides online health information and knowledge to raise health awareness.
6. Interdisciplinary integration: Bringing together, but not limited to, online exhibitions, foreign caregiver training, and digital gym and fitness applications.

No Food, No Life- A Helping Hand for Seniors Swallowing Training
Taipei City Hospital has formed a chewing and swallowing training team in 2018 to provide medical services and information for people with chewing and swallowing difficulties. By participating in the Healthcare+ Expo, the team will display a variety of swallowing-related home equipment and devices, such as grip balls, breathing trainers and interactive rehabilitation game cushions, so that the public can learn about training devices for swallowing disorders.
In addition to demonstrating and experiencing the equipment, a limited number of daily meals will be available for the public to try during the exhibition to learn more about diets for this population. Health education leaflets will also be distributed, including common screening tools for chewing and swallowing disorders, care tips, questions and myths, and information on medical treatment.

Healthcare Decision-Making: Autonomy of Life
For most people, the concept of life autonomy is still relatively new. Traditionally, it is considered too early for young people to talk about life and death, while it is taboo for the elderly. In order to promote the Patient's Right to Medical Autonomy Act in a fun and educational way, Taipei City Hospital has developed a simple and interesting game called "Life Autonomy Monopoly" to raise public awareness of medical autonomy and the dignity of hospice care, which in turn promotes the importance of pre-determining medical care and signing the pre-determination of medical treatment decisions, and to realise the concept of "I am in charge of my own life" in a positive and active way.
The game is similar to Monopoly, using operations such as rolling dice, moving pieces and flipping cards, and allows participants to acquire knowledge about living autonomy and the law through questions and answers. Issues to be explored in the game include the individual's right to know, choose and decide about illnesses, and even the idea of terminal care or death; as the tasks are completed, the public learns more and more about the importance of the issue.
