Virtual optical biopsy: In vivo stained imaging with cellular resolution

2020-08-26

To avoid unnecessary excisional biopsy? The skin conditions become worse after laser treatments?
All these poor experiences can be avoided by using virtual optical biopsy, which represents precision medicine and precision aesthetic medicine.

High-speed optical tissue tomography with cellular resolution is promising to replace the excision biopsy for cancer diagnosis in the future. Technically transferred from NTU in 2014, a biomedical startup, Apollo Medical Optics (AMO), has developed a GMP prototype, and it is applied for the FDA approval. At present, the deep learning technique is incorporated for the diagnosis on skin cancers and pigmented/immunologic diseases. Recently, AMO was selected by Business Weekly, the most renowned business magazine in Taiwan, as one of the most promising biomedical device startups.
