As one of the main forums of 2022 HealthCare+ Expo Taiwan, the 5th MedTex Summit Asia 2022 brought together leading experts in information technology, telecommunication, biotechnology, medical technology and healthcare services to share their insights and recommendations on the development of smart hospital technology.

There are a number of inspiring digital transformation stories in healthcare in the APAC region. Among them is Taiwan, which as a nation has been an exemplary health system.

This four-day annual event brings together healthcare companies from all over Taiwan and the rest of the world. It is also an opportunity for tech companies not typically associated with healthcare, such as ASUS, Intel, and BenQ, to showcase what they’re doing in medicine and healthcare.

This year the exhibition themes and products were aligned with the three major sectors, namely Medtech, Biotech, and Health Tech.

Increased foreign investment will allow the medical industry to incorporate more advanced technology and management practices, according to a hospital industry official.

The Philippine healthcare industry could benefit from technology transfer following the signing of an agreement between Taiwan’s Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry (IBMI) and hospitals in the Asia-Pacific.

IBMI signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with hospitals in the Asia Pacific region to formalise bilateral partnerships.

The Expo eyes on digital transformation and a technology-centred health ecosystem in response to unprecedented challenges as a result of the global pandemic and supply-chain uncertainties.     

The Expo welcomed more than 100 hospitals from the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, 50 industry associations from 15 countries to join in making digital transformation happen and expand in Taiwan.

CMU showed off innovations reflecting six major themes including artificial intelligence and smart medical care. Overall, the university has won 22 national awards for innovation, the highest number in Taiwan.

Solutions on display include the 32-inch 4K polarized 3D display and a 15.6-inch 4K naked-eye 3D display with AUO’s proprietary eye-tracking system for use in surgery rooms.

Following the debut of the system, it was the signing of the MOU between EPED Inc., INTAI Technology Corp., United Orthopedic Corp., and Aplus Biotechnology Corp.

Wincomm and Kenkone jointly announced EVAS (Endoscopy Virtual Assistant System) solution to help GI endoscopists improve lesions detection rate and automate efficient endoscopy medical records.

InnoCare will participate in Healthcare+ Expo Taiwan 2022 from December 1 to December 4. ADP will join ADLINK, Cypress Technology, MedicalTek, IADEA, imedtac, Quanta, and others in exhibiting innovative medical products and solutions for 3D medical imaging, smart surgery, examination and diagnosis, and telemedicine.

UnicoCell Biomed Company Ltd. ("UnicoCell”) is a new drug development company dedicating to stem cell therapy and its derived technology over a decade. We focus on degenerative diseases with unmet medical needs. The new drug candidate, ELIXCYTE® of UnicoCell, an allogeneic cell product, has evaluated on human clinical trials for knee osteoarthritis (OA knee) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Taichung Veterans General Hospital Combined with Shangyue Technology's Bluetooth ear-hook physiological wearable device, the device can detect five physiological parameters such as blood oxygen, blood pressure, heart rate, ear temperature, blood perfusion, etc., so that patients diagnosed with chronic lung disease can move dynamically and be synchronously physiological monitored.

Advanced cell therapy in cancer treatment

Compare to autologous NK cell, allogeneic NK cell with high antibody affinity is more powerful to apply clinical treatment in cancer therapy. These allogeneic NK cells are shown higher cytotoxicity of cancer cells, targeting to tumor without gene modification unlike CAR-T cells, applying more indications and treatment with lower side effect. According aforementioned characters of allogeneic NK cells, this cell therapy is expected to replace to the tradition cancer treatment and increase the efficacy with antibody combination in the near future.

The product is a "baby-only" health care product. Using artificial intelligence technology, with near-field radar and RGB type camera "non-wearable, non-contact, remote and timely" detection and warning mode, it is specially used for monitoring baby's breathing, heart rate, body temperature and ambient temperature, sleep behavior detection, turning over and cry reminder. In addition, it can also monitor the baby's overflowing milk or the baby's mouth and nose are covered by objects (such as: towels or quilts) to prevent the accident caused by the suffocation of the baby.
