uCare Medical Electronics, who specializes in motion sensing, fitness, and smart exercise software development, will showcase multiple smart exercise systems and smart health modules at the Taiwan Healthcare+ Expo this year. Embedded in the systems are applications of various technologies, such as 3D image capturing technology, 9-DOF smart sensing, fuzzy control neural network, and AI with deep learning, all of which combine to allow the system to detect motion and capture data accurately in real-time.
The most eye-catching of the products on display are the training products from the uGym platform. Two triathlon products have already launched outside of Taiwan: the 3D Biking and 3D Rowing systems, while the 3D Climbing system will be unveiled at the end of the year.
The system offers a change from the traditional indoor training as it automatically changes the resistance according to the 3D virtual scenery onscreen, adding real-time, competitive, interactive and fun elements to the experience. The system also monitors physiological data in real-time and allows the user to log into the system via Line or WeChat to obtain the complete exercise data.
Traditional fitness gyms lack precise data and are incapable of providing the user with analysis, injury prevention, and recommendations for improvement. The fitness evaluation and posture detection system developed by uCare, in collaboration with medical schools in Taiwan, are tested in medical institutions. Through the use of medical algorithms and the sports medicine association database, as many as 14 fitness and posture tests have been developed for the elderly, adults, and adolescents. In addition, evaluation of common problems relating to sarcopenia, smartphone overuse, shoulder and neck pain, lower back pain, and pelvic pain are also performed.
The above system has already hit the market to help physical therapists and coaches perform accurate data analysis, which will help to set heart rate target, adjust resistance, and monitor heart rate in real-time. The system's AI will then produce a fitness evaluation and exercise recommendation based on the recorded fitness condition.
uCare products have been introduced in as many as 10 hospitals in China and have been adopted by local fitness centers, while discussions are ongoing with more potential customers. The European market development has reached the stage of consolidation of product reseller and distribution channels, and products are expected to be launched by the fourth quarter. Meanwhile in the US, the search for local partners is continuing. Currently, uCare products are being used in three major hospital systems and two universities in Taiwan. At the Expo this year, uCare will seek to discuss with major fitness centers about cooperation models in addition to exploring new opportunities to work with hospitals, long-term care and rehabilitation facilities, and nursing homes.
