Acer Cloud Technology's aBeing Cloud Helps Customers to Effortlessly Build a Cloud Ecosystem

2018-06-12

Acer Cloud Technology is a new business unit established by Acer. It specializes in integrating AI, big data, the cloud, and IoT device technologies. The aBeing cloud is a user-centric cloud platform that allows every company to build its own cross-platform, cross-device, and cross-network cloud. Through BeingWare, the customer can make use of the Build Your Own Cloud (BYOC) service to string together devices and ideas without expending the time and money needed to build a cloud ecosystem from scratch. Recently, Acer has actively engaged in the medical and healthcare industry. The team developed the aBeing Wellness app to provide B2C solutions in healthcare.

Realizing Integration of IoT Software and Hardware with Medical and Healthcare B2C Solution

aBeing Wellness has systematically integrated 90% of the medical measurement instrument and wearable devices on the market, including devices from well-known brands such as Fora, OMRON, Garmin, and Microlife. These collaborators are provided with a software development kit or the open cloud API so developers can quickly develop IoT prototypes using the programming interface and example code. The tools allow the developers an easy way to connect and deploy various types of connected devices, providing users with a high quality solution.

Implementing Hospital Telecare and Corporate Employee Health Management to Make Healthcare Ubiquitous

The aBeing Wellness platform is currently adopted by three model hospitals in Taiwan - Taipei Medical University Hospital, Changhua Christian Hospital, and Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital - to promote healthcare and implement remote health management. Hospitals use wireless health measurement and wearable devices to collect physiological data, providing health monitoring and telecare services for care receivers or patients with chronic diseases.

Meanwhile, Acer Cloud Technology further collaborates with companies to allow employees to perform self-health management. Through regular physiological monitoring and data analysis, the early warning signs of diseases can be detected and the risk lowered. aBeing Wellness can provide personalized health recommendations and send an instant notification when anomalies are detected in the physiological data. The user can submit their personal health data to medical institutions through the cloud.

In addition to the aBeing Wellness platform, Acer has also released the grandPad, a tablet computer designed for seniors. It allows seniors to safely and easily share with friends and family their life in the golden years. For people with diabetes, Acer released the VeriSee Retina Health Examination System which uses AI to perform deep learning with the cloud database and quickly screen for potential patients with diabetic retinopathy. AI is further used to build the influenza forecaster, which uses data from CDA's influenza-like illness surveillance system, the National Health Insurance database, weather data, and population distribution data to construct a visualized real-time forecast on the spread of the disease. Hospitals and health authorities alike can use the information as a reference for disease treatment and control policy.

At this year's Taiwan Healthcare+ Expo, Acer will seek to expand its influence outside of Taiwan and export the intelligent medical service of its remote cloud healthcare system, aBeing Wellness, to the rest of the world.
