溫度管理系統產品概念源自於低體溫療法(Therapeutic Hypothermia)或目標體溫管理(Targeted temperature management)，主要用於特殊患者或特殊手術中使用。嬰幼兒或是年長病患較常發生低體溫的狀況。醫院中為了預防細菌或是病毒感染，通常空調設置都較低，甚至低於22℃，使得預定執行外科手術的病人，可能因處於低體溫環境發生低體溫狀態；或病患因手術過程中失血過多，導致低體溫狀態，同時，病患被施予麻醉，其身體也失去調節體溫的功能，增加患者死亡的風險。然而，溫度管理系統相關醫療產品不僅限於手術中，隨著現代生活節奏的加快和工作壓力的增加，很多人面臨著各種身體不適和慢性痛苦的挑戰。在這樣的背景下，許多業者結合不同技術的應用讓手術能更加有效，除了維護病患於手術過程中，維持正常體溫，降低手術過程產生不良影響包括：手術部位感染風險增加、出血量增加、藥物作用可能延長或改變以及麻醉延遲恢復等，同時提高病患恢復時程且減少醫院的醫療資源浪費。
