Regenerative Medicine Initiative Program

Regenerative Medicine is an emerging interdisciplinary field of research and clinical applications aimed to explore new therapeutic methods or strategies on the repair, replacement or regeneration of cells, tissues or organs to restore impaired function resulting from any cause, including congenital defects, disease, trauma and aging. It uses a combination of several technological approaches, including drug development, gene therapy, stem cell transplantation, tissue engineering, which moves it beyond traditional transplantation and replacement therapies.
The projects will be coordinated with the "5 + 2 program", and plane to develop the businesses model of cell therapies. Through the planning of the distribution of global venture capital investment, the project will promote the integration of human resources, capital, intellectual property rights and regulatory affairs in order to match the objectives of the "the Asia-Pacific biotech pharmaceutical industry R & D center.". The effects for the project proposed by the Ministry of Science and Technology will first help to personnel training for young scientists in stem cell research and to promote the research team formation and cooperation between different research teams and interdisciplinary studies. Furthermore, the impact of this project will help to successfully transition from academia to industry in Taiwan.
