Singular Wings Medical Co., Ltd.

SWM reports physiological signals for cardiopulmonary fitness and fatigue-recovery while the system provides suggestions to improve athletic performances and to prevent injuries during sports. By placing the device on the chest, SWM continuously monitors the cardiac status as well as respiration, atmosphere and body motions. The device can be optionally placed unobtrusively according to the designer. The device is so small yet functional while battery life is long enough for supporting the entire day use. The sportswear is fabricated with highly elastic and breathable fibers to ensure the comfortability for lone time wearing.

Smart eCare Inc.

Smart eCare’s INDAS is an innovative clinical mobile solution that utilizes BLE data transmission method to mobile devices. On the mobile devices, data transferred from the medical instruments are then integrated for clinical tasks. Once completed, the data can be sent via Wi-Fi up into the hospital’s server. At the same time, information can be extracted and integrated for other medical duties upon your device. This is our solution to tackling the numerous issues emerging in the medical field today; we need to work smarter and not just harder. Our solution design incorporates the views and needs of hospital and patient safety management including its staffs’ clinical requirements. It allows one to connect the medical equipment within each of their unit to form their own customized medical system; it is an upgrade that encompasses expert knowledge of workflow, and patient safety that allows for efficient and accurate e-records for data acquisition, health diagnosis and internal planning. Our solution is patented in the US, EU, Japan, Australia, China and Taiwan.

1.Multi - mode Patient Lifting Device:
In consideration of the life style of people with lower-limb disabilities, a brand-new patient transfer device available for medical nursing and life care with a simple and economic (small size and low cost) method, different from traditional model and methods of patient transfer devices in the market, is developed for experimental tests.
The research and development of a Multi - mode Patient Lifting Device stresses on the systematic design of the complete machine and emphasizes the modular and commercialized design. The human-machine-environment system is utilized for analyzing various situations in order to confirm demands and define problems. Eight design specifications are acquired, based on which Multi - mode Patient Lifting Device is designed five major modules of chassis, Lift column, module of Embrace,Armrest module. SolidWorks is also applied to constructing the 3D model and analyzing the movement, and the prototype is eventually implemented and tested. The design features (1)plug-and-play platform design, (2)secure and stable anti-sway design, (3)rapid and precise transfer device, (4)simple control and definite steering system, and (5)foldable and detachable chassis design.
Both the functional and situational test results of the prototype achieve the set design specifications and international standards, proving that Multi - mode Patient Lifting Device could provide people with lower-limb disabilities with a good solution for transfer and transposition, largely reduce the burden of carers, and enhance the comfort and security of users in the daily life. More importantly, it is a beneficial creation satisfying the environmental and economic demands of medium and low income families.

2. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology:
In clinical practice, extravasation is caused by the efflux of an injected solution from a vessel into its surrounding tissue spaces during intravenous infusion, and is invisible to the naked eye. When the drug exuding from the blood vessel spreads to the subcutaneous tissue and the problem is not dealt with promptly, it not only causes discomfort and pain, but could also result in tissue necrosis or even amputation. Given that there are still no single simple non-invasive monitoring devices for clinical practice, we propose in this study a wearable device for extravasation monitoring built on near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) that detects abnormal changes in volumes of fluids contained in a tissue, such as blood and drugs. The device obtains information on local extravasation through an array sensor module that consists of four 760nm NIRS transmitters and used the time-division method for high speed switching in 0.3s. It can also transmit signals via Wi-Fi to the backend for 2D imaging display based on color depth. The final results are recorded in a database for follow-up or further real-time analysis. Experiment in this study showed the proposed device could effectively detect extravasation in a subcutaneous depth of at least 2cm with sensitivity up to 0.3 ml, continuity for about 2-3 hours under a multi-bed wireless transmission framework and a missing data rate less than 1%. The proposed design has the potential to be an objective non-invasive monitoring device that improves clinical care by exposing difficult to detect extravasation.
