Nanoray Biotech Co., Ltd.

NanoRay Biotech Co. has been devoted to researches and developments of patented transmission X-ray technology. By generating a monochromatic spectrum with a specific niche of beam energy contributing to higher image contract, lower energy consumption and decreased absorbing dosage for patients, the transmission X-ray tube is able to provide a much safer, faster and more affordable choice in medical imaging, especially in pediatric field. As the globally first “Made- in- Taiwan” low energy X-ray device for hands, Revolux is comprised of the unique transmission X-Ray tube, digital image sensor, imaging software system and a radio-free housing. Furthermore, Revolux revels not only an elegant appearance but also a high-level safety and protection design which is intended to provide a high quality environment for patients taking the image. On May 1st 2022, it was announced that Revolux officially gained approval from USFDA. For future application, NanoRay Biotech Co. aims the medical need of children’s bone age diagnosis, bone density detection for the elderly and women, early diagnosis for rheumatoid arthritis, as well as hand bone reconstructive surgery, hoping to provide a better healthcare service in the globe.

1. A nucleic acid based lateral flow device for human BK polyomavirus:
BK virus (BKV), a non-enveloped circular double-stranded DNA virus, plays an important role in renal transplantation and water pathogen monitoring. Since it was also listed in the parts of Specific Excreted Pathogens in 2016 Global Water Pathogens Project (GWPP) of United Nations. In this work, a BKV-specific nucleic acid based lateral flow immunoassay is developed for rapid and easily detection of viral DNA within 45 min. The visual signal of detection limit is 10^7 copies/mL. This work provides a promising potential for BKV detection in aquatic environments and clinical application.

2. Mixed reality education and training system:
This system is an object-based educational system that integrates professional knowledge and mixed reality technology. It combines physical and virtual objects through virtual and real superposition of mixed reality, head-up display, and hands-free controller. It simulates the signs and symptoms of the disease, and reflects the situation of history taking, so that users can directly operate the assessment skills in the real world through the mixed reality, and become familiar with the examination skills, to improve the user's practical application and differential diagnosis ability in clinical practice.

3. The cutting-edge optical fiber technology is used in the construction of non-invasive multifunctional physiological real-time detection system:
This study uses the principle of total reflection of optical fiber and no electromagnetic wave to monitor the physiological information of laboratory animals in a non-invasive way, such as changes in respiration, heart rate, etc., to obtain various physiological and behavioral responses of animals infected with the SARS-CoV-2, and it can remotely monitor in real time for 24 hours. In addition, this study also combines AI deep learning to obtain and establish digital basic physiological information of animals as a reference for further studies.

National Laboratory Animal Center National Applied Research Laboratories

The National Laboratory Animal Center (NLAC) is under the jurisdiction of the National Applied Research Laboratories. Being the largest laboratory animal resource center in Taiwan, NLAC acts as the foundation and key platform for the development of biotechnology industry and biomedical research. In addition to providing diversified animal resources and testing services, NLAC leads the development of patient avatars with breakthrough technologies such as humanized animal models, organs-on-chip systems, and 3D cell culture approaches.

For supporting domestic disease research and drug development, NLAC has generated genetically humanized mouse models, humanized gnotobiotic mouse models, humanized immune system mouse models, and humanized mice engrafted with patient-derived xenografts to simulate human diseases. NLAC has also deployed the development of organs-on-chip systems and established a drug screening platform with circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and CTC-derived organoids, in hopes that the in vitro alternatives for drug tests using patient cells or tissues may shorten personalized drug screening process and assist clinical decision-making regarding medical treatment, achieving a tailor-made avatar system and a new generation of precision medicine.

National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences

National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences (NTUNHS) is Taiwan's first institute of higher learning for nursing and health related studies. Our university is not only a pioneer in the domain of nursing and health care but also the sole institution offering a doctoral nursing program among the vocational education system in Taiwan.

NTUNHS was founded in 1954 as the Taiwan Provincial Junior College of Nursing. In August 2010, the Ministry of Education approved the school's new name, the "National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences," in recognition of the school's outstanding and continuing pedagogical achievements. NTUNHS has three colleges: the College of Nursing, the College of Health Technology, and the College of Human Development and Health. NTUNHS focuses on providing comprehensive health care education, enhancing healthcare quality, and taking care of every stage of human life cycle.

Since 2010, NTUNHS has been awarded and sponsored by Ministry of Education’s “Teaching Excellence Project” as recognition to NTUNHS’s dedication to cultivate top-quality health care professionals. Moreover, NTUNHS is awarded MOE’s “Model Technological University Project Grant”. NTUNHS is proudly ranked by Business Weekly Magazine and 104 Job Bank Corporation as Top 1 University with the highest college graduates employment rate in Taiwan.

NTUNHS has become a model for health care education through years of hard work and carefully planned expansion. Our university is a high quality academia institution that aims become a focal point for health care knowledge and a training center for Taiwan's next generation health care talents.
