Rock BioMedical’s Low-sugar universal mRNA vaccine program against influenza was chosen as a winner of the first annual Moderna Taiwan mRNA Innovation Award in September 2023. Rock BioMedical was the only private company among the five recipients to win this award. This program is an extension of our recent development of a low-sugar universal COVID vaccine. It combined our latest insight in the glycoengineering of mRNA vaccines through selective glycosite mutations of the vaccine coding sequences to expose conserved epitopes while preserving overall antigen protein structures. It also incorporates our latest breakthrough in the novel dendritic cell targeting LNP (lipid nanoparticle) technology. We believe it has a strong potential to dramatically improve the safety and efficacy profiles over the current mRNA vaccines and offers broad immune protection against seasonal and potential pandemic flu.
