Active Monitoring and Training System for the Behavior Pattern of Senior Citizens at Home or Homecare System
For the diagnosis of dementia symptoms in the elderly, in addition to using clinical assessment tests, we hope to use parameters such as patients' gait, behavior patterns, and movement disorders as important indicators for early diagnosis of dementia. The currently developed system is composed of spatial positioning modules, speaker modules, and direction guidance modules. The second-generation new module system has these characteristics, such as miniaturization, low power consumption, easy integration, and easy assembly. The system uses image technology to analyze and identify the user's movement trajectory, and at the same time, observe and monitor the user's movement characteristic information. It will combine artificial intelligence and clinical data analysis to expect early detection of potential patients with mild dementia.

Novel Nanotechnology-Based Genomic Editing For Precision Medical Therapeutics in Retinal Diseases
Inherited retinal diseases are caused by mutations in one or more genes that cause retinopathy and even blindness. The purpose of gene therapy is to restore the original function of the gene, so that the patient can recover or improve vision. CRISPR/Cas9 is a new genome editing technology that can perform targeted and precise editing of genes, so it has won the reputation of "gene scissors" and won the Tang Prize in 2016 and the Nobel Prize in 2020. We developed a nanoparticle that can carry gene editing components and can be administered by intravitreal injection. Preclinical trials of drugs are usually only tested on non-human species. Therefore, our team has further applied iPSC technology to develop patient 3D retinal organoids as a personalized drug screening platform. The combination of nanomedicine and human retinal organoids can promote the application of precision medicine and solve the problem of vision loss caused by hereditary retinal diseases.

Cognitive Detection and Emotional Express System by Nostalgic Experiences
The problem of dementia for the elderly over 65 years old is an important issue that the government and the society urgently need to pay attention. In our research, the serious games that could record the performance of player and evaluate the cognitive ability in older people based on the problems caused by dementia. The system software could be performed by using keyboard, mouse, touch-based platform or motion sensing device. We improve the functions of this game system with more games for cognitive functions, which can evaluate cognitive abilities such as memory, attention, and calculation; increase two-person interactive functions for improving the interpersonal communication. That could increase the frequency of interaction between the elderly and others, and enhance interpersonal relationships and hope to assist the elderly in early prevention and treatment, the feasible prediction and prevention model could be developed. It is also possible to develop personal rehabilitation prescriptions in the future. The use of the serious game could have the advantage of reducing the rate of disability for keeping health.

A Portable Device to Monitor Dehydration Status
Regardless of healthy or illness people, if they don’t get enough water intake and continue to lose body fluid under conditions of excessive sweating, high temperature or diseases, dehydration will most often occur.
The current methods for detecting dehydration are still invasive and inconvenient to collect the samples in the modern age, and require to be sent to the laboratory for testing, which can’t provide immediate diagnosis and treatment to dehydrated patients. Our research team develops a portable device to monitor the body hydration status in real time, and already obtained patents in Taiwan, United States, Europe and China.

Naso-endotracheal intubation during general anesthesia will induce pressure injury in nasal-ala region. Inadequate tube care will result in the injury, causing pain, discomfort, more medical expenditure, and prolonged hospital stay. The quality of medical care will also be worse. The manpower needed and the medical cost will also increase. The design of nasal endotracheal tube supporting device was inspired by the concepts of Y shape horn as fork. It elevated the tube and alleviate the pressure on the nose. The risk of pressure injury in nasal-alar region was then decreased.
